A couple of months ago, I was looking for an 18.5" barrel for my Remington 870 shotgun because a 28" barrel, while manly and really awesome for dusting clays and small birds in flight, doesn't "slice the pie" as easily as one might think when stuff goes "bump, CRASH!!!" in the middle of the night. I located a suitable barrel at your friendly, internet hub of all things gunnie, Midway USA, but I was disappointed to learn that my intended purchase was out of stock. I was offered the opportunity to request notification via email when said product once again was in stock which I did.
That email arrived one hour and 15 minutes ago. Seeing as how I am at work and otherwise engaged in the business of covering my keister from the office politics of the day, I just now attempted to follow the link and see if my bank account would allow me to buy said barrel.
Turns out my bank balance is a moot point as said barrel is already out of stock. AGAIN.
Tease.
Back to the drawing board Wile E.
Going through the same thing with a Mossberg 500C in 20 gauge that my dad gave to my half-brother, which later he gave to me. It's atleast 40+ years old. It has a long 28" barrel and I am wanting to convert and restore it for JUGM as a tactical shotgun. Guess I will have to call Mossberg and see what they say.
ReplyDeleteI have my short barrel, what I need is an affordable adjustable buttstock or someone who can cut down my stock to fit me. The "adult" shotguns are a bit too long for me and the juniors a bit too short. It's a never-ending cycle, I tell you. I never should have sold the first shotgun I built.
ReplyDeleteYes, the low levels on all things firearms related is getting beyond annoying!
ReplyDeleteYep. It's crazy. The gun shelves here have been empty for months. Like scary. Unless you want to own a BB gun. No guns. No ammo. It's like I wonder if the government sends secret agents everywhere to buy all this stuff up. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteSenior, I can't help you there. But, I will say that the cost of the extra barrel is about 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a no frills home defense shotty. Maybe better than that if you find someone who needs cash and one less 20 gauge,.
ReplyDeleteGunDiva, I'm afraid the combination of affordable and adjustable is not in the cards at the moment. Your best solution maybe to cut an adult stock to size and put a new butt pad on it. Just a thought.
ReplyDeleteA Girl, you ain't just whistling Dixie there. I haven't been to a Cabela's or Gander Mountain in forever, but Bass Pro looks like vultures picked the bone clean unless you are interested in high end bolt guns. Common caliber ammo isn't common anymore WHEN you can find any for sale. I am about to the point where I am going to switch to a .357 revolver cut for moon clips and just reload when primers can be found (I'm not too proud to shoot cast lead from wheel weights).
ReplyDeleteMomma Fargo, I'm no conspiracy theorist, but I would not put it passed the likes of Bloomer and Soros to do something like that in an effort to forward their agenda.
ReplyDeleteDaddy Hawk, that's exactly the direction I'm heading.
